Pricing guide — updated August 2026
Billboard advertising prices in South Africa
Billboard advertising in South Africa is priced very differently depending on the format. Static billboards are monthly site rentals that range from a few thousand rand for a small suburban board to six figures for premium highway gantries. Mobile billboard trailers run at a fixed daily rate — R200 to R285 a day with Simply Visible SA — and digital LED screens are quoted per campaign. This guide covers all three, and what actually drives the price.
Static billboard prices
Static sites are quoted as a monthly rental per board, and the spread is enormous because the location is the product. A small board on a suburban road can start around a few thousand rand a month; busy arterial sites commonly run into the tens of thousands; and premium highway gantries and building wraps in Johannesburg or Cape Town can exceed R100,000 a month. On top of the rental you typically pay for printing the skin, flighting it, and any artwork change during the contract — and the board cannot move if the spot turns out not to work.
Mobile billboard trailer prices
Mobile billboards are priced per day, all-inclusive. Our 2026 rates:
| Plan | Rate per day | Roughly per month | Commitment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Month to month | R285 | ± R8 550 | No commitment |
| 3 month campaign | R230 | ± R6 900 | Billed monthly |
| 6 month campaign | R200 | ± R6 000 | Best value |
Rates include high-traffic placement in the suburb you choose, 4 trailer moves a month, in-house printing, free setup, weekly photo reports and a fully insured fleet. Full breakdown in our mobile billboard cost guide.
Digital billboard prices
Digital comes in two forms. Fixed digital gantries on highways sell in rotational slots, where your ad shares the screen with other advertisers — priced per slot per month, usually at a premium over static. A mobile digital billboard — an LED screen on a trailer — is quoted per campaign, based on length, location and how much of the screen rotation you take. WhatsApp us your suburb and dates for an exact digital quote.
What drives the price
Location and traffic volume
The biggest factor for any billboard. A static site on a major highway costs many times what a suburban site does, because the price tracks how many vehicles pass it. Mobile billboards flatten this: the trailer is placed in high-traffic positions within the suburb you choose, at one fixed daily rate.
Format: static, mobile or digital
Static sites are monthly rentals locked to one position. Mobile trailers are priced per day and move with your customers. Digital LED screens are quoted per campaign, and let several advertisers or creatives share one screen in rotation.
Contract length
Longer commitments cost less per day in every format. Our own mobile billboard rates run from R285 a day month-to-month down to R200 a day on a six-month campaign — same trailer, same service, lower rate.
Production and extras
Static billboard quotes usually exclude printing, flighting (installation) and artwork changes, which are billed on top. Ask whether the quoted number is the number you will actually pay. Our mobile billboard rates include in-house printing, free setup, four repositions a month and insurance.
Which format should you buy?
If you are a national brand buying reach on a major route, a static or digital gantry may justify its rental. If you are a local business selling to one or two suburbs, you are usually better served parking a board where your customers already shop — at a daily rate you know before you start. That is the mobile billboard case, and it starts at R200 a day.
